Easter Morning on Buntzen Lake

Canoeing Bunsen Lake

Rule #1:  When you wake up and it isn’t cold and rainy and your schedule isn’t full, go canoeing.

We were surprised to see that once again Buntzen Lake was flooded high. It is a BC Hydro managed power producing lake that’s part of the chain of hydro power that starts at the pristine, untouched Coquitlam Lake and ends in Indian Arm. I guess they’re working on the downstream station and shut off the exit tubes for now. Regardless, this makes paddling the shore a lot of fun as you’re often canoeing above the hiking trail that circumnavigates it.
